Description

Delicious heart-shaped cookies filled with strawberry jam, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup strawberry jam

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together 2 1/4 cups of flour, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon salt.
  3. In another large bowl, cream 3/4 cup softened unsalted butter and 1/2 cup granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in one large egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture until a dough forms.
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  7. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out shapes from the rolled dough.
  8. For half of the cookies, cut a smaller heart shape in the center.
  9. Place solid heart shapes on the baking sheets, spread 1 teaspoon of strawberry jam on each, and top with the cut-out centers.
  10. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden brown.
  11. Cool on sheets for about 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
