Description
Delicious brown butter cookie bars with a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter (browned, Halal-compliant)
- 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (Plus extra for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease it.
- In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter until it turns golden brown and emits a nutty aroma, about 5-7 minutes. Let it cool for a few minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooled brown butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Mix until smooth and creamy.
- Whisk in the eggs one at a time until fully incorporated, followed by the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and ground cinnamon. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Pour the cookie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it out evenly with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once baked, remove from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before lifting it out to cool completely on a wire rack.
- Cut into bars and serve with a sprinkle of additional cinnamon sugar on top.
Notes
- Make sure to use Halal-compliant butter.
- Allow bars to cool completely before cutting for clean edges.
